Starting Monday, August 27th to Thursday, August 30th, St. Andrew’s United Church will be “Branching Out: Connecting Through Christ.” VBS is a good time to branch out in our lives – to meet new friends, try new activities, and to discover new things about ourselves.
VBS offers a fun and creative venue for teaching Christ-like values and interactions with others. While at VBS, children meet new people, have a good time with friends and enjoy fun activities. Children learn Bible verses, act out stories, sing songs, watch and participate in skits, create crafts, play games in recreation, discover science activities and have a healthy snack.
We use rotation teaching model, where a variety of activity centres are set up in different locations in the building and the children are led, in small groups, by a group leader to explore each center. The theme at each center reflect back on the overall theme of “Branching Out: Connecting Through Christ.”
A very important aspect of our VBS is the mission project. For the last several years our mission focus has been a local one, gathering school supplies and donating them to the Cochrane FCSS Backpack program. “Connecting Through Christ” uses lessons from the week and channels it into doing good for others.
This year we will end our week on Thursday with a BBQ lunch for the participants and their families to celebrate all they have learned and accomplished.
- Our VBS program dates are August 27-30, 2018 from 9 am to 12 noon.
- Children ages 5-11 are welcome to participate (5yr olds must be entering Kindergarten).
- The cost is $30/child or $80/family.
